Matua Manuell legacy!

Legacy left behind from Matua Manuell

Matua Manuell, a kind loving man who left such a huge legacy behind. His kids carrying on with
what he gave them, teaching kapa haka, how to dance and many more. Always one to laugh with
and have fun with, never a dull moment with him. Dancing was always fun practicing but hard at the
same time always a way to hype yourself up. Kapa haka, a way to express yourself, your emotions,
to let everything out and feel your passion within it.

Childhood:
His upbringing was really good but it was tough with money. They didn’t exactly have all the
money in the world and it was rough. He had a lot of siblings ( 9 siblings!!! ) and it  was very hard
so they couldn’t really fork out. He was born in 1963, 20th of November. His parents names are
Manuell Maunsell and Rangi Bennet, and was brought up with country music.

Family:
He had a loving family and they grew up having a big heart like him. They’ve grown up and had
their own kids, who are like them amazingly talented and have amazing voices. He's left a big
impact in his kids life and will never be forgotten. They’re always thinking of him everyday and will
remember him no matter what. His generation will never be broken with his talented kids and grand
kids who are one of kind just like him.

Legacy:
He left a huge impact and legacy behind for his kids, he left behind kapa haka as well as dancing.
Kapa haka was the biggest thing in their lives and no matter what they’d always be practicing in a
way.Through their ups and downs they’ve made it so far and Matua Manuell left good within them.
Kapa haka is still strong within his family jeans and nothing will ever break it! Dancing was mainly
Horraces thing but Matua Manuell was there to whakapiki and help support with what he needed.

Matua Manuell was a loving amazing man, but unfortunately we have lost him. Our hearts were
broken, tears dropping to the ground, Matua Manuell having his last breaths on the 10th of July 2016.
No matter what to this day he’ll never be forgotten will always be with us in our hearts and most
definitely be remembered! May he rest in paradise.

Kapa Haka!

Today I decided to write about Te Rau Pou Manawa O Kawakawa and our practices.

In the second week of the holidays Te Rau Pou Manawa O Kawakawa had 2 workshops on Monday and Tuesday then we had a wananga from Wednesday - Friday and got so much done. Over the past couple of months we have been working hard for Nationals coming up in week 4 this term. I have mixed emotions for when we're going to perform, I'm going to be nervous, happy, excited and many more. We have started polishing our formations actions etc, and it is going really well. We have a dress rehearsal coming up in the weekend and we have to be up by 4:30 am because when we go down to Waikato we are performing in the morning at 9:45 so we're prepping for that. Another reason why we're waking up at that time is so we're out of bed and have our beds made then by 5:00 we'll be getting dressed doing our hair etc. There is going to be so much stuff happening I can't wait but then again I can.

We have done so much this term such as Camp, Netball ending, Technology, Matariki concert etc. We have had such a busy Term and it has gone past real fast, which then means Term 4 is gonna end fast as well, and by then me and my friends will be graduating from Primary/Intermediate. It has been an extraordinary term with my friends, and soon this term is coming to an end, but yay to the HOLIDAYS! but then again Primary/Intermediate is almost over. Also Kapa Haka is going to be next term in Term 4 and we're leaving for the week, so we have so much practices and Wanangas coming up, and a whole week practice in the holidays.

!NETBALL BREAKUP!

In the weekend we had our netball breakup. We all met up at the school ( Kawakawa Primary ) then jumped into the two vans. We had two vans because there were two teams, but then again we also had a couple of cars to fill up with there family. We all jumped in to the vehicles and I sat at the back with my Ipad and speaker, and we were blasting the music out loud. We then traveled down to Whangarei and made our way to Jump. Jump is a place where you have trampolines all over the place, it was very fun/funny at Jump because I kept landing on my face when we trying to win $10 from jumping off one wall then flipping then back on to the other wall, the hard thing was that we only had one bounce to do it in. Then after that we headed on over to the wave pools.....while we were swimming 1 of our coaches went to go and get pizza....when she walked in with the pizza we were all buzzing out and say "THAT'S A LOT OF PIZZA!" Then we walked on over by her....outside then majority of the pizza was gone.

Fun Run 2019!

On Monday we went for a hikoi downtown to the train station to catch a ride to the UK rugby fields for our fun run. We then arrived at the fields and jumped off the train to go set up where we're going to sit down and put our bags. We then had a chant off which was very fun then after that we got the year 1's ready to run first, then so on and so on, like after the year 1's it went to the year 2's then year 3's all the to year 8. When it got to the year 7's and 8's we went for a run but we took the longest cause we had a mud fight and got the teachers dirty and then went for a swim which was very cold but entertaining at the same time.

Honey Bees

A honey bee is a close relative of an ant and wasp that is a flying insect. They’re found on every
continent of earth, except for Antarctica. Honey bees have to gather nectar from 2 million flowers to
make 1 pound of honey. At least 1 bee has to fly around 90,000 miles/three times around the globe to make that one pound of honey. They communicate by dancing to each other. Female bees are
the only ones that do all the work because the male bees are just there to mate.

Appearance:
The honey bees measure up to around 15mm long and are the colours light brown, yellow-ish and black-ish. They’re usually oval-shaped creatures with  golden-yellow colours and brown bands. The body colour of honey bees varies between species and some honey bees have predominantly black bodies almost all honey bees have varying dark-to-light. The light and dark stripes serve a very meaningful and strong purpose for the survival of honey bees. The 3 main body parts of a honey bee is the head, thorax and abdomen. The head contains the eyes antennae, and feeding structure, the thorax contains wings, legs and muscles involved in movement. Finally the abdomen which has seven segments and contains female reproductive organs in the queen, male reproductive organs in the drone, and the stinger in both workers and queen. Unlike other species, that just hide from predators when they’re nearby, the brightly coloured bodies of the honey bee act as a warning to predators or honey robbers of the honey bees’ ability to sting.

Habitat:
Honey bees natural and original habitat are tropical climates and heavily forested areas. Honey bees thrive in natural or domesticated environments, although they do prefer to live in gardens, woodlands, orchards, meadows and other areas with flowering plants are abundant. Within their natural habitat, honey bees build nests inside tree cavities and under edges to protect themselves from their predators.

Diet:
Bees, bees are colour-sensitive insects that rely on their sense of vision to locate food. They are most commonly seen when they are foraging, which is the process of finding food and water. Bees sometimes fly up to around 6 miles to find food, and are mostly quite far away from home if you see them in your yard or neighbourhood. They are attracted to very sugary things, but mainly/especially attracted to liquid sweets. That’s why when you see them around your yard and you have a whole lot of sweets that’s why they’re hanging around.

Honey:
Honey starts off from the nectar of flowers collected by the bees, which then gets broken down simple sugars store inside the honeycomb. The design of the honeycomb and constant fanning of the bees' wings causes evaporation, creating the sweet liquid honey. Honeys flavour and colour varies based on the colour of the nectar collected by bees; For example, honey made from orange blossom nectar might be light in color, whereas honey from avocado or wildflowers might have a dark amber color.

Bees are declining from starvation and pesticides. People are spraying pesticides on plants to
kill weeds or harmful insects or bacteria. Honey is incredibly healthy and includes enzymes, vitamins,
minerals. It’s the only food that contains “pinocembrin”, an antioxidant associated with improved brain
functioning. They have been producing honey the same way for the past 150 thousand years. Bees
do not pollinate corn, but the corn's pollen makes its way onto flowers and other crops, whereas the
bees are exposed.

By Roxy
These last couple of weeks for writing we have been doing research on honey bees, because we are going to be getting honey bees at the back of our class.

Orientation Day!

Year 8 Orientation Day
On Wednesday we had Orientation Day, which is a day when us year 8's go to the college ( Bay Of Islands College/BOIC ) and see what its like being a year 9. If I'm gonna be honest I did kind of find it boring but then again it was an alright day. A couple of the year 9's took us around the school and showed us what the option classes are like which are boring no offence. The thing I did like was getting to meet other/new people and getting to mingle around as well as get to know them. It was also very cool getting to see our friends from last year that are in college now. I definitely wish that I got to stay in Primary/Intermediate because it is much more better. So definitely enjoy your days in Primary/Intermediate before you get to college and have to start and exams, test etc.

Birthday post for friend !

Today for my writing it is short and sweet and is just a birthday post : )

Today is a BIG present, it is the day of one of my friends birthday. She now goes to college and is endlessly missed by a bunch of us at our school. She turns 14 today and refuses to let people steal the joy out of her day she can celebrate how ever. She's at school celebrating her birthday with/around her friends. People from our school do welly miss her and wishes her a big happy birthday, and hoping she'll have one of the best days of her life. She'll probably be going out for dinner tonight, and take a group of friends out so she can enjoy the rest of her night with welly loved ones. I wish her the most happiest biggest and most enjoyable birthday ever and wish that I was there to celebrate with her.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Te Aroha!!!

Weekly 3 : )

This week my blog post is my Weekly 3 which is something we do every Friday for maths to practice. We use three websites and used them for different problems.

Wednesday 3 July 2019

First Encounters Popplet!!

For the past few weeks we have been doing a timeline about the first encounters. We had to get all the information first and put it on a slide to make sure the information was correct then put it on a Popplet. It was different, like the site we used was different to what we usually use. It was pretty easy getting the information we needed, also having the help of some friends when me and my group got stuck ( Me, Miria and Jacque. ) Our group is very thankful for having the help, and we are happy to have it done.

Matariki Day!

On Thursday last week we had a Matariki whanau day, which is Matariki day but with whanau from home coming to school and us showing them our learning in class. It was a big massive and busy day. We had to get a project done before morning tea which was quite hard, because some of us were doing screencastify and we had to do it in the class in front of everyone, so then we decided to do it during morning tea but that was also hard as well because we had to wait for our friends to film. It was a fun and cherish moment while filming them because we had our little laughs in between each moment they accidentally made a mistake. After morning tea though our whole school had to go across the road to thank the family members of some students who had came, we had thunk them with a kapa haka performance ( kapa haka performances. ) The order of the performances were junior syndicate, middle syndicate, senior syndicate, Te Mana Tamiriki then Te Rau Po Manawa O Kawakawa. Each syndicate/roopou had performed around 3 waiata. After the performances it was time to head back over across the road and eat the hangis that Nga Rau Rangatira and Nga Rau Puawai had prepared and made. Then after lunch we just played sports which was really fun!! : )

Tuna & Takakau

Last week throughout the first three days ( Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday ) we had tuna and takakau coming in. It was a competition, for both the tuna and takakau, the tuna was to see who weighed the most whose was the longest and whose was the widest and the takakau was to see whose was the better taste, texture and better looking because you could decorate it. If you bought in a tuna it had to be a short fin tuna, then it'll get measured and weighed. It was definitely a fun week doing all that. It was fun getting to taste the takakau and getting to look at how big some of the tuna were.

I'm sorry for having a non interesting blog post and being a bit slack. I couldn't exactly think of much but I hope you get a little sum of what I was saying : ) *Also sorry again for not getting in any photos.

Tuesday 2 July 2019

Maromaku Day!

Last week some of us students had the opportunity to go to Maromaku, Maromaku Day is a day where a couple of schools get together from around the Bay of Islands and play some sports. The sports that are played at Maromaku is Netball and Rugby. I played in the Netball team, the first team we played was Moerewa school which I was excited for because I knew a lot of people that was in that team. Our first game we had won, our second game we had won again; by 19 points, our third game we had won which was a nice and light game. In our fourth game we had won again, luckily myself and the GS ( Miria ) was getting our goals in. Our fifth game we had won and it was a really fun game. The fifth game was pretty much semi finals but not, cause they had said it wasn't semi finals yet the fifth game was to see who'd be playing in the finals to place for first and second. Then we had made it in to finals and preparing ourselves to play against Taumarere. The time was ticking, it was getting closer and closer, and everyone in our Netball team could not wait. It then got to the time everyone had got themselves into their positions and mentally and physically prepared themselves for the game. We were all yelling to get the ball, intercept, defend and do as much as they could. The timer had stopped everybody went to go ask the score takers what the score was, but the main question was "Did we win?" the score takers answers was yes and our team were so proud and thankful for making it and winning. There was me, Jacque, Miria, Ocean, Dakota, Payton, Tunisia, Flo,  and we had all had good games.

The BubZ !!

This week I wrote about the Bubz game, it was a good game they played and they had won as well!! : )

Last week on Friday night  me and my sisters went to Whangarei to go watch the Bubz netball game. Me and one of my sisters had just finished kickboxing training so we had to have quick showers so that we didn't have our driver ( my sisters friend ) waiting for us. While we were having showers my sisters friend was driving to Moerewa from Kerikeri but we still had quick ones just in case she had left earlier. She pulled into the driveway around 7:40 came inside and there we all were just patiently waiting, so then we got the car seat out of the car for my nephew to come as well then put it into my sisters friends car, then we all jumped in to the car and made our way to Whangarei. As we started making our way out of the driveway my nephew started crying, so then we had to make a quick stop to buy him a water and some other snacks. After buying him a couple of snacks and a water he  had cooled down and had fallen to sleep. After a while we had arrived to the stadium where they were playing, but we had just arrived before there game so we were watching the other game for about 10 minutes. After that 10 minutes our eyes were wide opened and ready to watch the Bubz play. While I was watching I was thinking WOW! this is what I have to put into my game when I'm playing, do proper passes, communicate, feeding, and getting in front to not loose the ball. As I was thinking I was like you know what I'll do all that tomorrow in my game I can achieve that. The Bubz had WONNNNN there game we were all so happy for the Bubz the score was around 53-42. Everybody was super happy : )

RoCkEt ChAlLeNgE !!

These last couple of weeks ( 7 weeks ) we have been learning, designing, and "building" our own rockets. It has been a really fun experiment with Matua Troy, we have learnt a lot about water rockets. Last week when we had our lesson with Matua Troy, it was probably my favourite one so far out of all of them and I cannot wait for the next lessons coming up with Matua Troy. We had seen that our rocket will fly pretty good and straight because we were testing it out with lite things, such as spinning  the rocket by tying a piece of string and spinning it around with the string. It was a success and me and my partner was definitely proud of it. The only dumb thing is that there was only 2 of us at school out of 4 because the other 2 were sick. But it was definitely a success with the work we ad done and we were proud.

James Cook - Information Report

James Cook

James Cook was a well known man, he was known for a couple of things such as being a British
explorer, navigator and a cartographer. He was born in the late 1720’s, on November the 7th 1728.
In the late 18th century, James Cook was the first European to define the outline of New Zealand.
Thanks to Captain Cook, with his very detailed charts, his gentlemen passengers, and scientific
and artistic documentation, accurate knowledge of New Zealand was available in Europe for the
first time since the 1770s.

Family/Childhood:
November the 7th 1728 was the first breath of his life, born in Marton-in-Cleveland, Yorkshire, England. James went to  Postgate School and grew up in Great Ayton. In his teenage years as he was growing up he was farming alongside his father until the age of 18, when he got offered an apprenticeship by a Quaker ship owner near the seaside village near Whitby, England. James and his wife...Elizabeth Batts Cook, had quite a bit of children of their own named…. Nathaniel Cook, Hugh Cook, James Cook, George Cook, Elizabeth Cook, which they are well known because of their father Captain Cook. His parents…. Grace Pace Cook, and James Cook also had a large amount of children named John Cook, Mary Cook, Christiana Cook, William Cook, Margaret Cook, Jane Cook including Captain Cook himself.

Ship:
Captain Cook had several amount of different ships named HMS Endeavour, HMS Resolution, HMS Resolution, HMS Adventure, HM Bark Endeavour Replica, HMS Discovery, HMS Grenville and RR5 James Cook. Captain Cook’s most famous ship was the HMS Endeavour, the one he travelled across the world and found different countries and islands such as New Zealand and the Great Barrier Reef of Australia. Captain Cook had only made one voyage on his HMS Endeavour ship, but then he made his second and third with his HMS Resolution.

First Encounter:
Captain Cook landed one of his ships at Poverty Bay, a couple of days later he had drawn a map
of New Zealand and also wrote about his first encounter with the maori. Which wasn't a good idea
after all, especially with 8 maori injured and 2 of them dead. When Captain Cook had left, nobody
went to New Zealand for a very long time because he had told people they were strong and fierce
men. The next time he arrived in New Zealand he got along with them much better than he did
the first time he’d been there.

February the 14th 1779 age 51 the day of Captain Cook’s last breath, missed by many such as his family members like his wife kids and siblings. Stabbed to death by Hawaiians after returning back to Hawaii. Hawaiians thought that if they’d kill him and eat his brains and body parts that they’d be able to be like Captain Cook. The Hawaiian’s cooked Captain Cook to enable his bones being easier to receive.

These last couple of weeks I have been working on this piece of writing about James Cook. I thought that James Cook was a really good man until I found out today that he had done some really bad things such as leaving the Indians overseas where he had taken them. James Cook had done good things as well, but he had done some bad things at the same time and hid them away. Anyways I hope you enjoy my writing and find out some good facts about James Cook : )

Tutu on Scratch : )

A couple of weeks ago we learnt how to use scratch, we had some people ( Whaea Keri and Whaea Monika ) from Waitangi come to our school and teach us new things. We learnt how to use scratch which was definitely something different to what we usually used although we did it last year as well but it was with them to. It was definitely something fun to do and I can't wait for the next time to do it.

RePs TeAm !!

This week I decided to write about netball, and what time I had made it in as well as a couple of my friends that had trialed. I was definitely happy about finding out that I had made it in to the top team.

This weekend that has just gone past was definitely filled with enjoyment especially finding out that I had made it into the top reps team. I was all hyped when I found out I had made it in to the top team but I was also happy for my friends that had made it in with me. We had found out the teams a couple of days later after trialing and this week will be our first training as a team and we'll actually know each other. This week on Wednesday will be the day we get to meet each other properly, when we were trialing we barely knew each other, we had only known each other by faces and not names. But then after a while ( after a couple of quarters ) we had mingled around and got to meet new people. While we were meeting new people we were complimenting them with there trial, like on how good they're doing, a lot of them done really good shooting defending and attacking. I had thought to myself that I needed to get my passes to my team and not to do lobs ( lob passes are the ones that go over. ) Those lob passes I was doing weren't going to well they were going all over the place but they'd still get to my team mates ( well after running to get it ) some of them were alright but some not as good. So I definitely need to work on my passes to keep them straight and not to do lobs, but other than that I think I had a pretty good trial. I definitely enjoyed meeting new people from other teams because I think it's cool to have new people come in to your life.

Pepeha ! : )

This week me and my class had a goal to add in our grandparents to our pepeha. We had learnt all about grandparents in Te Reo today but instead of grandparents it was grandma and grandpa just in e Reo. So Grandma in maori is 'karanima' and grandpa is 'karanipa' it was definitely something different to what I'm used to because in everyone's pepeha I have heard so far is just the normal pepeha without the grandparents so I think it's cool how we have now added in our grandparents.

Walking with an ANZAC !!

These last couple of weeks we have been learning about objects that have been used fro the war. The object me and my partner chose was a badge about the dardanelles. It has been a good experience learning about items that have gone to war. We found some good information about the item we used and some about George Bollinger.

A Day To Remember

A Day to RememberImage result for men at war

Should men have had the choice to go to war ? I am adamant that men should’ve had
a chance to choose to go to war whether they want to go or not. Men should not have
been forced to do what they didn’t want to do because it is not right for what they were
doing especially if you were under the age of 18. My opinion for the age is the fact that
they should’ve been at least 20 years old and not 18, and if they didn’t want to do it for
them not to get shot or put in jail. Firstly men should have been able to choose if they
wanted to go to war or not. Secondly they should have not been getting shot or being
punished cause they weren’t ready to go to war and risk their lives. Lastly it is not right
for young men to go to war because they should be living life to the fullest and not having
to be going to war at a young age.

Firstly, men should have their own rights to pick whether or not to go to war. Men have
all rights to choose because it is not right for those who are going because they’re forced.
Anzacs should have had their own decision to pick to go to war because they’re taking
a big risk of their lives for others, which is very thoughtful of them, besides the fact of
when they’re getting forced. Men were wanted by the Government because he didn’t
want the people staying back from war to get mutilated and wanted save New Zealand,
yet people will get killed if they didn’t want to or if they had tried to run away.

Secondly, men were forced to go to war but there punishments were dreadful. If you were
to try run away while your fighting or before getting to war you would have been shot. Men
had also been sent to jail back in the days if they had chosen not to go. There punishments
were unsatisfactory and very dreadful for some of those who had to witness what was going
on. Why? Why is it that men were forced to go to war whether they wanted to or not it is not
right for the men who didn’t want to go and they were shot or sent to jail and many more
awful things.

Finally, all men could should have been able to stay back from war so they could be
with family. For those who were young and under the age of 18 definitely shouldn't've
gone to war, they should have stayed back with their families while they’re young. Young
men, young men back then should have not had their mothers worried and up all night
because they’re wanting there son’s back without any hesitation or worriness. They
should have been living life to the fullest and not having to go to war at such a young age.

I am adamant that men should have all rights to pick whether or not to go to war, not to
be forced to do something, or having to risk their lives, they could’ve stayed back with
their families or they could’ve been to young. Sometimes I think to myself is that even
who they wanted to be as leaders back in the day? It is not a good look, on how we as
people look back at how they were treating people back then. Especially finding out
they were being forced to do something that you shouldn’t be forced for. All men should
have had the chance to “LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST!”.

For the past three weeks we have been working on a piece of writing to publish and it has been about Anzac. At the start we were doing one piece of writing each week but that didn't work out because a couple of the students in our class weren't getting it done.

RoCkEt ChAlLeNgE !!

These last couple of weeks we have had a man come in to us (> aka Matua Troy) and talk about what he does at work as well as gonna be teaching us on how to build a rocket. It has definitely been interesting learning all these new things and how we're going to be building a rocket. He works at the Far North District Council and is very helpful with what he does. We've also got more lessons coming up with him which I can not wait for.

I wrote about the fight because it was an enjoyable night and she had won her fight and because she won the belt.

On Saturday in the afternoon around 1:30 we left home to go to Auckland for a fight, it wasn't my fight but it was Quin's fight and she inspires me. I was definitely excited when the ref yelled out her name I couldn't help myself but yell and say "GO QUIN YOU GOT THIS." But before her fight I wasn't as hyped as I was when she walked out, everyone's fight down there was so good they done well but once it got to the fight before her's I was prepping myself to yell hard out. Before her fight there was like 13 so I was just like woo hoo but then as soon as she came out I was yelling hard out. Then out she came I was super hyped then started to record her fight. The opponent got in a couple of good hits but Quin had some very good ones as well and almost swooped her opponent off her feet. Round 1 was just a light and easy round so that she could see our her opponent fought as well as round 2. In round 3 and 4 it got a bit more intense and she went in for bigger and harder hits. As they got to round 5 Quin went in for it and was going for gold till she knew she had it. At the end she found out she won and she is now the top winner in New Zealand.

Fraction Whole!!

This week for our Maths workshop we had to find answers to solve out problem we got given. After the problems we got given we had to make up 3 of our own. We then had to do an example and explain how to solve it. So I done my 3 and thought it'll help out some people . I hope you enjoy my Google Drawing : )

CaRpOoL kArAoKe : )

So at the end of the week last week we had our assembly. It was a very hectic week for both room 5 and 6 to fit in some time for assembly practice. I decided to post our Carpool Karaoke because I though that was a very cool and funny item we presented on the day. The song me and my friends done was London Thumakda, which is a song me and my friends enjoy listening to. We are the 6th group that is in the car and I am the one in the back. I think that song is just a hyped song to listen to especially when your in a hyped mood. It was our whole class that done Carpool Karaoke, we also had a bloopers to which was very funny as well.

FiGhT nIgHt !!

This week I decided to write about what I did in the holidays because it was an highlight especially finding out when she won !!

Fight Night : )

This previous weekend that has just went past was one of the BEST weekends!! There was so much going on that night and I was excited to head over to the fight show to watch one of my idols  fight. The ref yelled out "QUINITA HATI" to make her way into the ring then called out for the opponent to come out after Quin walked around the ring making her self feel like she owns it. Quin was then waiting for her opponent to walk around the ring and do the pre ritual. Then they went on and put there fists together and listen to the ref for the rules. After the rules they walked back over to there corner listened to there coaches and waited for the ref to pull them back together to know when they're gonna start. They then made there way towards each other and started to attack at each other. In round 1 they were just getting the feel of it and slowly attacking, then they got to round 2 slowly making there way in to attack each other more than they did in round 1. But when it got to round 3 Quin was going in for heaps of punches and kicks and they were all solid and powerful, just listening to the sound of it made people go OUCH! because they had so much power in the kicks. Round 4 started and Quin walked towards her opponent hitting lightly and then went powerful, as well as knocking her on to the ground with her powerful kicks. In round 5 she just walked to her opponent went in and hit her hard core. Round 5 was Quins time to go all out cause that was the final round.

Peowhairangi : )

This writing is about Regionals, and how Peowhairangi made it into Nationals.

In the weekend me and some of my siblings went down to Whangarei, and in Whangarei we went to go watch my sister perform KAPA HAKA!! While we were making our way down we decided to stop and get a little snack so that we're not having to wait in the lines in Whangarei to get a snack. So we went ahead and bought a snack before we got there put our tickets and then made our way inside, as we were walking in I seen a bunch of friends and we all just said Hiiiii and had a little catch up. After that we actually got into the stadium and went to go sit down. While we were sitting down I seen some more friends walk pass so we gathered and said as well as having a catch as what just happened before that. I then decided to look around and then I spotted a friend that was sitting down with her family so then I made my way over by them and just sat and we talked. PEOWHAIRANGI walking on to the stage looking smart and prepared to go, as they were performing I hear heaps of people yelling out GO PEOWHAIRANGI!!!!! After they performed there were like 4 Haka Tautokos which was so mint and Peowharangi was superrrr gooooooooood. I literally had chills all over and shouted YESSS you go! When they were calling out the placings Peowhairangi had there fingers crossed and was hoping for them to make it, Yayy as they yelled because they placed in Regionals and excited for Nationals 2020!.

Maths !

So today we had a math's teacher come in, she us a math's teacher that teaches us different and slightly challenging math's to what we usually do. Today we learnt something new like equivalent measurement. We were learning about equivalent measurement using whole numbers and fractions. At the end of the lesson we had to write down some stuff like if it was easy or not or what was the easiest thing and the hardest. We also had to write down what we learnt. The thing i found easy was that the harrys hand and adding all the numbers up, so harrys hand is a huge hand and with that hand we had to measure a track with that and see how long it was then we had to add all the numbers up. I found using harrys hand hard and some point there because the hand was big and when we measured some bits were really small so I found that really challenging ( when there were small bits to measure with such a big hand. ) I learnt how to make fractions connect and how to connect decimals with fractions and whole numbers.

Today we done maths with Whaea Dianne and she is our maths teacher : )

Women's suffrage interview !!

This is a little something myself and my class had to do, it is all based on the womens suffrage and knowing if this womens are now equal to men. Now a days it is definitely more equal then back then because women these days aren't getting used in ads or just being stay home mums. Yes there is stay home mums now a days but there reason isn't the fact that they are getting used. This is also an interview to see how there life is different to there grandmothers.

CoNcErT : )

So this week I wrote about a fundraiser that happened recently and how I was feeling with the way my sister and friends performed. I'm also writing about what I done pretty much throughout the whole night and how much fun I had.

Last week, THURSDAY night  ( 28th of  March ) was a night to remember, a night full of joy, fun etc. It was a night to fund raise for boic ( Bay of Islands College ) because regionals is coming up. There was three kapa haka groups that performed 2 are going to Te Tai Tokerau, 1 is for regionals and the other group was a group from my school and they performed because they were invited from the boic tutors. The way they were performing definitely bought goosebumps to my arms and I was honestly so happy on how they performed especially my SISTER and my very good FRIENDS !! My friends were leading all the waiatas and everything which literally made me scream and shout with a high pitch voice. The boic group peowhairangi is performing at regionals and the younger group of boic ( kete taonga ) is performing at Te Tai Tokerau as well as peowhairangi. Our school was just there to support the college and help them fundraise. After the groups performed I just went around the back of the stage and ran up to give my friend a HUGEEEEEEEE hug !! A little while after that me and my friends were just walking around buying tickets, food and more things which was really delicious.

Women's Suffrage !

This is a little something me and my friend  had completed a while a go, it is about how the women's were suffering back then. We had to do a poster on this because back then women were pretty much getting used by men on there ads, where women were to be the advertisers and the men will always get the money. This is also about how long it took them to be able to vote. I hope you enjoy this : )

BiRtHdAy !!

This week for my free writing I decided to write about my papas birthday which was very good and fun. The birthday was really fun and it was really good seeing everyone get together.

Saturday late afternoon we're getting ready for my papas birthday, getting all dressed and prettied up to get to the R.S.A. We arrived in our neat gears as everyone else was, while I was making my way in as if I was the neatest one there but everyone looked so good. I make my way over by everyone kiss and hug them because some I haven't seen in a very long time and some I just did because it is good to see everybody together. After going around kissing everyone mingling and talking I then made my way over by some friends in the kitchen and helped out a bit. They were setting up the food, cooking and doing all sorts. The food was then made so we got my papa told him to make his way to the top table and we'll dish out your food, so then me and my cousin dished out the food for everyone that was at the top table and grabbed them some sea food as well. After I grabbed my food I made my way into the kitchen because my cousins weren't finished grabbing out there food and I didn't want to sit down alone, I also had some really good company in there. While everyone was finished eating everybody was talking and done there speeches so then we put a table in where everyone was eating so that everybody could put there plates and everything on there so I scrapped all the food, took the plates in as well as the knives, forks, spoons and all the others. Then right at the very end we everyone stood up and sang a WAIATA but then after that waiata we done a HAKA for my papa and he started crying which made me tear up.

My mum made the Chowder, chopped up the seafood and made the sauce. We made our way to the Gala, put everything up. While setting up we then went up and bought some tickets to go buy and something from other stores. We bought the tickets then headed on over by other stores to buy some food and sweets. After buying some things we went back over by our gazebo to chill out.

Quality time : )

This week I wrote about spending quality time with my brothers because I really missed them. They were back for 2 weeks but they were all over the place at the start because they wanted to go see everyone and then come back by his immediate family : )

        Quality time !

In the weekend I was spending as much time with my brothers before they headed back to Australia. Throughout the weekend we done quite a bit of stuff, we had a BBQ ( barbeque ) with our whole family which was very delicious. The day after that we went for a family dinner and played some games which was really fun. I was definitely around my brothers most of the time, but then when other family members came around I would go away to give them some time because they're leaving on the Monday. It was a lovely time having them back for 2 weeks but I really wish they could stay back, but I knew they had them selves a good job and have a good league team over there. While they were back it was a great pleasure spending quality time with them.

The Wedding : )

For free this week I chose to write about a wedding that just happened in the weekend and it was a very enjoyable moment with my family.

The Wedding
On Saturday morning we woke up early to get ready to go to my cousins wedding. My cousins wedding started at 2 "o" clock, and we went into the church around 1:30. While we were in the church everybody was waiting patiently until we were in there to long and the bride accidentally came late. The bridal ended up getting there around 3:45 so throughout the time she wasn't there everybody was just talking and catching up with everyone. When the girls arrived ( the bridesmaids, bride, flower girl ) everybody made there way inside sat down quietly shifted the chairs back the right way and waited for the ceremony to start. The ceremony started everybody stood up, and the bride made her way to her husband. As the bride walked up some started crying with joyful tears, and everybody was whispering how beautiful she looked. The bride looked so stunning everybody couldn't wait to take picture with her as well as her husband. The husband looked handsome and they were just so happy as usual and were really excited to take some photos with the whanau. After the photos and ceremony everybody made there way to the marae to have speeches and a feed. While we were eating there were speeches going on after my family finished eating my cousin done a speech and we all done the haka.

Adrenalin Park!!

Every Monday morning we do free writing  for 20 minutes. We can write about anything we want.
Adrenalin Park : )

Early Saturday morning I woke up around 6:30 and ended up going for a run. After that run I went to my nana's house to get ready to go to the Adrenalin Park. While we were at my nans house we were all waiting for the Sliders, Sliders are pretty much mini burgers which are really delicious. The Sliders were then finished and made so we  made our way into the vehicles and  had an upbeat ride especially with the music. In the car we were all hyped and singing really loud, had the speaker turned all the way up and could not wait until we arrived. When we arrived we all jumped out of the excited to go for a swim and have a turn on the challenging obstacles. My aunty had already booked in and had a spot reserved for where we'll be sitting. We took our gear down to where our spot was reserved got our life jackets on and jumped straight in. When we jumped in it was really cold but then we all got used to it and jumped on the obstacle. On the obstacle were a couple of slides the first one was really fun and then we got to this bit where we started bombing. While we're bombing heaps of others started to bomb as well and our manu's were going high as ( a manu is when your jumping backwards kind of in v shape/u shape. ) After a couple of hours we ended up jumping out and getting a feed.
